- ROTH INDIVIDUAL RETIREMENT ACCOUNT (IRA)
An individual retirement account with non-deductible contributions, subject to certain income limits, designed to provide tax-free distributions during retirement. Contributions may be withdrawn tax-free at anytime. Tax- and penalty-free withdrawals of earnings may begin when the account has been established for at least five years, and you're at least 59½ years old, for a first time home purchase ($10,000 lifetime limit), or in the event of disability or death. Non-qualified distributions of earnings may be subject to income tax as well as a 10% IRS penalty. Unlike Traditional IRAs, you aren't required to start taking distributions at age 70½.Back
