QHow Much Money Can I Borrow (plus Loan)?
APLUS is a supplemental form of financial aid. In most cases, your child will submit a FAFSA and receive an Award Letter from the school. This letter calculates your childÒs financial aid subtracted from the cost of attendance (COA). The amount the school certifies for your PLUS is equal to the total of your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), the Óunmet needÔ and the 3% origination fee on PLUS. If you have not received your Award Letter yet, you may still apply for a PLUS. Just be sure to request up to the Cost of Attendance plus the 3% origination fee so you are guaranteed to receive the full cost and wonÒt have to apply for another loan mid-year. Please note that you should contact your schoolÒs financial aid department if your have any extenuating circumstances, such as unusual medical expenses for your child or recent unemployment that may have impacted your COA or EFC.
