- BROKER
A stockerbroker works for a brokerage firm, and acts as an agent, handling client orders to buy or sell stocks, bonds, commodities, and options in return for a commission. Brokers are licensed in the state where they work and must be registered on the exchange or market where they work. They must also pass a uniform examination administered by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). Many brokers provide a range of investor services, including financial planning and advice on specific buy and sell decisions. A real estate broker represents the seller in a real estate transaction and receives a commission on the sale. A mortgage or insurance broker acts as an intermediary to find the best mortgage or insurance policy for his or her client and also receives a commission.Back
