- CAPITAL MARKET
The physical and electronic markets where equity and debt securities are traded, as well as the commodities exchanges and the over-the-counter (OTC) markets, are called capital markets. When you place an order through a brokerage firm, trade online, or use a dividend reinvestment plan (DRIP), you're participating in a capital market. The term is also used to describe the direct sale of stocks and bonds by an issuer to an institutional investor, such as a mutual fund company.Back
