  Composite trading figures report the price changes, closing prices, and the total daily trading volume for stocks, warrants, and options listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or the American Stock Exchange (AMEX). In addition, the NYSE total also includes transactions on regional exchanges such as those in Boston, Chicago, and the Pacific Exchange in California. Since trading continues on some of those exchanges after the close of business in New York, the composite figures give a comprehensive picture of the day's activities.
