• CONSERVATOR
  
  (1) a person appointed by a court to protect and preserve the property of an individual who is physically or mentally unable to handle his or her own affairs. (2) a person appointed by a court to protect the interests of an estate. (3) an agency or person placed in charge of a troubled savings institution or bank by federal or state authorities to protect and conserve the assets of the institution while more permanent measures for dealing with the institution are worked out.
