  Salary Reduction SEP IRA. Tax-deferred retirement plan for small businesses with less than 25 employees and for the self-employed. Both the employee and employer make contributions. This plan was replaced by the SIMPLE-IRA for new accounts opened after Jan. 1, 1997.
