- TOXIC SUBSTANCE CONTROL ACT
Enacted by Congress in 1976, the act authorizes EPA to secure information on all new and existing chemical substances and to control any of these substances determined to cause an unreasonable risk to public health or the environment. The act was established to ensure that the human health and environmental effects of chemical substances were identified and properly controlled prior to placing these materials into commerce.Back
